Cadaqués exploring the Costa Brava

Cadaqués a small fishing village on the Cap de Creus peninsula which forms part of the popular Catalonia Costa Brava coastline, has long been a magnet for artists. The picturesque pueblo contrasts a rugged and rocky coast line with many fine looking buildings.

The architecture of the town reflects a period in which up to a third of the village population emigrated to Cuba. Having enjoyed prosperity in Cuba some of the Catalans returned to Spain where they built impressive homes with a South American style.

During the local fiestas, groups of performers known as 'Havanas' sing Cuban style folk songs maintaining cultural links with those who left for Cuba all those years ago.
